IT Computer User Support Specialist

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest communications cooperative, is currently seeking an IT Computer User Support Specialist.

ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast, conveniently located in easy driving distance between Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC

The IT Computer User Support Specialist Provide technical assistance to computer users. Answer questions or resolve problems for clients in person, or via telephone or electronically. May provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems.

The IT Computer User Support Specialist is responsible to install and configure new computers, printers and other hardware peripherals. Will maintain reliable documentation of computer and end user configurations. Will attend project, team, and department meetings, interface with outside departments to design and build required IT infrastructure. Assist IT Manager in developing and implementing security standards and other duties as assigned including keeping up to date with current technologies.

Knowledge of principles and practices of personal computers, telecommunications and information technology. Experience with Windows Desktop, Windows Server, OS/400, OS X, VMWare, and Linux. Networking experience. Ability to communicate technical information effectively. Knowledge of Active Directory. Knowledge of Exchanger Server. Knowledge of networking and routing technologies and protocols including DNS and DHCP. Working knowledge of computer hardware and software. Ability to communicate with co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments. Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Ability to read and interpret technical documents.

Education and Experience:
Minimum of Associates degree in Information Technology or other related field or equivalent experience. Prefer minimum of two years of Information Technology experience.

CABLE REPAIR TECHNICIAN FULL-TIME

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a full-time Cable Repair Technician.

ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast, conveniently located in easy driving distance between Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC

The Cable Repair Technician Splices, terminates, and maintains cable, including fiber-optic cable. Identifies, counts and prepares groups of pairs for splicing. Maintains Central Office cable system. Splices cable to protector devices and the main distribution frame at Central Office. Splices customer drop cable to the Central Office cable system. Mounts demarcation devices and protectors at customer’s premises. Wires lead coil of other devices into subscriber’s loop plant. Transfers services from one cable or terminal to another.

The Cable Repair Technician will use all available test equipment to test digital subscriber loops. Splice fiber cable and cuts terminals for new construction. Maintain and repair new cable plant copper and fiber optic lines by opening and bonding lines and fibers. Maintain cable system by testing to locate trouble, open cable to repair or replace defective sections, and closing and sealing cable. Identify counts and prepare groups of pairs for splicing. Add new lines of service as directed by subscribers. Splice cable to protect devices and Central Office main distribution frame and splices customer drop cable to the Central Office cable system. Make sure all splice closures and termination points are airtight and free of moisture. Mount demarcation devices and protectors at customer premises and attached individual house or service cable pair of Central Office feeder cable. Transfer customers’ service from one cable and/or terminal to another by networking cut sheets and assigning counts. Maintain manhole systems and associated splicing. Perform all other related duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred prior experience in fiber-optic splicing, communication services technician (I&R), heavy equipment (backhoe & plow) operations. Prefer current or ability to obtain CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).

Director, Human Resources

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Director, Human Resources.

General Summary:
Assists the Vice President of Human Resources and Human Resources Assistant to maintain overall efficiency and effectiveness of programs, processes and procedures within the ATMC Human Resources Department. The Director, Human Resources is responsible for the Company’s successful on-boarding of candidates along with providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. This position plays an integral part in assisting the Vice President of Human Resources develop, implement and maintain appropriate policies and processes, and ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Performs many of the duties at a professional and administrative level and must maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist VP of HR in partnering with employees and management to develop, implement & communicate policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.
  • Assist VP of HR and HR Assistant with all employment-related administrative duties from recruiting to termination.
  • Will assist in administering the centralized processes which include FMLA, Workers’ Comp, Benefits, Safety, Wellness, EAP, Record Retention, Filing, Employment Reporting, HR Budgeting and others as deemed necessary.
  • Request pre-employment online assessments, background screens and pre-employment drug testing in conjunction with employment offers.
  • Conduct employee new hire orientation and assist HR staff with new employee on-boarding.
  • Responsible for all new hire reporting and verification as required by state and federal law.
  • Will maintain HRIS system, Performance Management System and internal website maintenance and administration.
  • Update and maintain employee files ensuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality.
  • Responsible for assisting drug and alcohol testing program including keeping pools updated with testing center, ensuring timely completion of random testing.
  • Process and monitor Workers’ Compensation claims initiating Return to Work Program when appropriate; monitor FMLA and other Leaves of Absence in compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies and practices.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Will plan and coordinate special projects such as large mailings as related to HR, job fairs, service awards, company gatherings, parties, etc.
  • Assists with other projects that require collecting and analyzing data, maintaining records and databases and preparing a variety of human resources-related reports.
  • Assists with large projects such as benefits open enrollments, position descriptions, compensation programs, performance management programs, employee policies updates and other projects deemed necessary.
  • Will handle a variety of HR communications and correspondence.
  • Will use various computer software requiring advanced computer knowledge.
  • Will field calls and inquires, and follow-up as required.
  • Attend and be part of weekly HR Dept. meetings and yearly planning meetings.
  • Assist and provide the management team at ATMC with administrative services as needed.
  • Perform all other related HR duties as assigned by Management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of human resources principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of NC state and federal human resources laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of NC worker’s compensation and health insurance claims administration.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance issues, requirements and employment laws such as: ADAAA, COBRA, ERISA, FLSA, FMLA, HIPAA, OSHA and others.
  • Knowledge of Company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Skill in handling sensitive situations in a professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate with employees and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources. Combination of education and progressive Human Resources experience. Minimum of three years’ experience in a Human Resources position. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP designation preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid driver’s license, have an excellent driving record and be insurable under the ATMC’s driver’s policy carrier.

Communications Services Technician

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking an Communication Services Technician. ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast, conveniently located in easy driving distance between Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC

This Communication Services Technician will install, maintain and service telephone, cable television (CATV), fiber to the premises (FTTP), broadband, DSL, VDSL services and IPTV Triple Play services. Also, responsible for Internet lines and cables, terminals, protective devices, and customer-owned equipment. On call for emergency call out 24/7. Will work some Saturdays and extended work days. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

CST installs new services and equipment for subscribers by installing CAT 5 wiring, co-ax cable, aerial drop wire, fiber optic cables and related equipment, ground blocks, station protectors, network interface devices, CATV splitters, CATV amps, modems, routers, switches, HPNA bridges, CATV boxes, outdoor and indoor power supplies, ONTS and MDU’s. CST verifies QOS (Quality of Service) by the means of various test equipment including but not limited to: Laptop with Legends, Mariner, Clear Vision, ISAT and Wire Shark Software, JDSU V3 Meter, EXPO Meter, Sunrise Meter, Tempo Sidekick, Cable Scout, Dynatel Locator, Fiber Light Meter, Volt/OHM and Data Safe Test Sets. CST wires new services using various power tools, hand tools and equipment, maintains and repairs existing services and equipment using all the test equipment listed above, completes all outside plant installation and repair forms including customer billing sheets and daily inventory. Technician utilizes Smart Phone and laptop to receive and complete work, document test results as well as complete electronic timesheets, confers with customers to determine problems and acceptable resolutions as well as providing extensive training on all services provided, promotes and offers all other services provided by ATMC. CST provides exceptional customer service and efficiency in all services provided.

Communication Service Technician with training will be knowledgeable of ATMC products, services, policies, and procedures and ability to locate this information when necessary. Will takes personal responsibility for enhancing knowledge and understanding of telecommunications and new product and service offerings that may affect job duties. Will possess required skill set to be sent to the job and executes them correctly on a consistent basis with minimal supervision. Working knowledge and understanding of internet/networking and data communication fundamentals (i.e. protocols, standards). Working knowledge and understanding of internet access provider equipment (i.e. broadband, dial-up). Working knowledge and understanding of internet/networking equipment (i.e. routers, switches). Working knowledge and understanding of common telephone, CATV, DSL, FTTP, VDSL, and IPTV. Detail understanding of tasks and skills required for installation, repair and termination of services provided. Understanding of departmental policies, practices, and procedures specific to their individual job duties and implementation of same on a daily basis. Detailed knowledge of all equipment required to carry out job assignments. Skill in operating service equipment including various hand tools, power tools and testing equipment. Skill in reading cable records, staking sheets, specifications, and circuit diagrams. Skill to communicate tactfully and skillfully with both the written and spoken word to customers, vendors, and fellow employees. Listens to, builds and maintains positive relationships with customers and fellow employees. Maintains open and timely communication of relevant and necessary information. Communicates effectively with disgruntled customers to resolve problems. Must maintain confidentiality with all business related information. Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions using information at hand. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license. Ability to function effectively as a team player. Ability to lift minimum of 40 pounds. Ability to report to work regularly and punctually. Ability to work overtime both with and without notice as necessary. Ability to be on call and work on weekends and holidays. Ability and history of working safely. Ability to work both in and out-of-doors in various weather conditions. Must be proficient in PC use.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prefer one year telecommunications schooling and one year or greater experience. CompTIA Network+ certification a plus.
