COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES TECHNICIAN

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Communications Services Technician. ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Communications Services Technician installs, maintains, and services telephone, cable television (CATV), fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP), broadband, DSL, and VDSL service and IPTV Triple Play services.

This position reports to the Manager, Communications Services.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Installs new services and equipment for subscribers by installing CAT 5 wiring, co-ax cable, aerial drop wire, fiber optic cables and related equipment, ground blocks, station protectors, network interface devices, CATV splitters, CATV amps, modems, routers, switches, HPNA bridges, CATV boxes, indoor and outdoor power supplies, ONTs, and MDUs.
  • Verifies Quality of Service by means of various test equipment, including, but not limited to: Laptops, JDSU V3 Meter, EXPO Meter, Sunrise Meter, Tempo Sidekick, Cable Scout, Dynatel Locator, Fiber Light Meter, Volt/OHM, and Data Safe Test Sets.
  • Wires new services using various power tools, hand tools, and equipment.
  • Maintains and repairs existing services and equipment.
  • Maintains accurate plant records and forms, including customer billing sheets and daily inventory.
  • Utilizes smartphone and laptop to complete work and document test results
  • Confers with customers to determine problems and acceptable resolutions and provides extensive training on all services provided.
  • Promotes and offers all other services provided by ATMC.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and efficiency in all services offered.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge and understanding of internet/networking and data communications fundamentals (e.g. protocols, standards).
  • Working knowledge and understanding of telecommunications.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions using information at hand.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team player.

Minimum Qualifications/Education and Experience:

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

IT COMPUTER USER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a IT Computer User Support Specialist. ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The IT Computer User Support Specialist provides technical assistance to computer users. Answers questions and resolves problems for clients in person, via telephone, or electronically. May provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems.

The IT Computer User Support Specialist is responsible for the installation and configuration of new computers, printers, and other hardware peripherals. Maintains reliable documentation of computer and end user configurations. Attends project, team, and departmental meetings and interfaces with outside departments to design and build required IT infrastructure. Assists the director in developing and implementing security standards and other duties as assigned, including keeping up to date with current technologies.

The IT Computer User Support Specialist reports to the Director of Information Technology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of principles and practices of personal computers, telecommunications, and information technology. Experience with Windows Desktop, Windows Server, OS/400, OS X, VMWare, and Linux. Networking experience. Ability to communicate technical information effectively. Knowledge of Active Directory. Knowledge of Exchange Server. Knowledge of networking and routing technologies and protocols, including DNS and DHCP. Working knowledge of computer hardware and software. Ability to communicate with co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments. Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Ability to read and interpret technical documents.

Minimum Qualifications/Education and Experience:
Minimum of Associates degree in Information Technology or other related field or equivalent experience. Minimum of two years of Information Technology experience preferred.

SOFTWARE APPLICATION SUPPORT SPECIALIST

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Software Application Support Specialist. ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Software Application Support Specialist is responsible for providing support for ATMC’s software applications. Re-creates user issues to document software bugs or database work-running queries to find data issues and correct them. Gathers feedback from users to coordinate with the other software development team members regarding both improvements and bug fixes. Assists with the testing of software development projects. Serves as the backup for the running of the billing processes.

The Software Application Support Specialist reports to the Manager, Software Development.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Interface with ATMC’s users to provide support for software applications
  • Utilize a support ticketing system to track all requests to resolution
  • Query and Update database tables as needed for purposes of issue resolution
  • Test and document software development releases

FINANCIAL SERVICES MANAGER

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Financial Services Manager. ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Financial Services Manager effectively manages the financial services team to ensure timely preparation of customer invoices, achieve company goals regarding collection of accounts receivable, ensure accurate recording and reporting of cooperative member equity, ensure compliance with cooperative bylaws, tariffs and rates, terms and conditions, coordinate all registration and voting processes related to the annual meeting of the cooperative members, coordinate completion of administrative and clerical tasks, and ensure adequate departmental training, coaching, and ongoing performance management.

The Financial Services Manager reports to the Director of Regulatory and Finance.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of company by-laws, tariffs, rates, terms and conditions, and regulatory requirements related to departmental responsibilities.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and work instructions for review and approval of the Director of Regulatory and Finance.
  • Ensure staff compliance with approved company policies and procedures.
  • Recommend modifications to existing policies and procedures related to departmental responsibilities.
  • Establish work standards, develop objectives, and design and maintain effective work-flows and operating procedures.
  • Provide for effective training, coaching, and ongoing performance management of departmental staff.
  • Establish methods for ensuring adequate departmental scheduling to ensure timely and accurate completion of departmental tasks.
  • Supervise departmental staff in timely billing and collection of accounts receivable, proper cash handling, proper recording of uncollectible debt, effectively coordinating with external collections agencies, maintaining accurate cooperative membership records, recording, and reconciling of capital credit transactions, proper procedures with assignment of company vehicles, compliance with company safety and data security standards, following company protocols for company visitor privileges, proper distribution of company mail, and working with other departments to resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Serve as primary coordinator of annual meeting registration and voting, including annual training of company personnel, vetting candidates for qualification, ballot preparations, quorum certification, and vote tabulation.
  • Produce accurate and timely reports to the Board of Directors on accounts receivable and membership data.
  • Produce monthly key metrics.
  • Review and analyze company reports to evaluate effectiveness of departmental policies, procedures, and staff assignments.
  • Complete special projects, as directed by management.
  • Maintain confidentiality in customer and company matters.
  • Attend all required training, as directed by management.
  • Consistently achieve punctual attendance at assigned work times.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by upper management.

CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a full-time Construction Technician. ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Construction Technician operates equipment such as locators, trenchers, backhoes, and borers in burying cable plant and in burying service drops at customer locations. May operate other heavy equipment. Will use hand tools such as shovels, spades, rakes, etc. Responsible for routine care and scheduling maintenance of assigned equipment. May be required to safely and legally operate a truck with a trailer.

The Construction Technician reports to the Construction Manager.

MANAGER, OUTSIDE PLANT (OSP) ENGINEERING – DESIGN

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Manager, Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering - Design. ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Manager, Outside Plant Engineering (OSP) – Design manages and directs the OSP Engineering Design team involving wide area fiber networks, Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and broadband deployments, traditional copper and fiber communications network design in compliance with RUS specifications, Hybrid-Fiber Coaxial (HFC) cable television networks, and overall OSP network capacity planning. Provides Project Management and Quality Control of OSP Engineering design team related projects and activities, including those regarding Consulting Engineering and Contract Construction forces relative to large scale and ongoing internal and external projects. Reviews the designs, work plans, associated costs, and detailed drawings generated by OSP Engineers and outside Engineering Contractors regarding OSP Engineering Design of large commercial, large development, NCDOT rearrangement, FTTH, CATV system upgrade, fiber splice, broadband, data circuits, special circuits, wireless backhaul, line extension, reinforcement, regrade, OSP network planning, and special projects. Coordinates with GIS-CAD team regarding ongoing maintenance of OSP cable and equipment records, including Continuing Property Records (CPRs) and associated account codes, design, and work print files. Supervises cost study analysis for feasibility studies regarding project proposals as requested. Coordinates maintenance and administrative procedures with Engineering Director involving OSP related contracts such as RUS, Construction, Splicing, and Contract Engineering. Acquires real estate and implements new equipment site builds, including wide area planning, design, legal, and survey processes. Assists in reviewing new technologies and potential services and makes recommendations on engineering and design requirements, improvements, costs, and impacts.

This position reports to the Director of OSP Engineering.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of twisted pair copper, coaxial, and fiber telecommunication OSP systems design, including voice-grade telephone service (POTS), Fiber to the Home (FTTH), Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) CATV, and broadband architectures including Very High Bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP). Must be knowledgeable in construction practices and engineering practices, principles, and specifications regarding each respective Outside Plant network system.
  • Ability to utilize CableCadCAD, NetDesigner/ESRI GIS mapping and database systems, LodeData, VISIO, XMAP, and other design, drafting, or mapping software. Working knowledge of AS400 system data (or other authorized ATMC Data Systems, including plant and customer records applications).
  • Skill in operating various PC software programs including Word, Excel Spreadsheet, Adobe Acrobat, various CAD/GIS specific software, and engineering equipment such as: measuring tapes, laser range finder, height measuring rods, measuring wheels, and GPS data collection units.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations affecting engineering projects and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of company products/services, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills and above average mathematical and problem-solving abilities.

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related field), minimum of 7 years OSP Engineering experience preferred, or a minimum of 15 years of equivalent practical and technical experience demonstrating a progressive career path of increasing OSP Engineering knowledge/skill levels, project management, and team management responsibilities, or a combination thereof.

COMMUNICATION SERVICES LEVEL II TECHNICIAN

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a full-time Communication Services Level II Technician. ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Communication Services Level II Technician will work in the Communications Services Control Center, which consists of the Broadband Level II Technical Support, Installation, Repair, and Assignment departments. Duties consist of processing service orders, dispatching trouble reports, dispatching work orders, receiving incoming customer trouble calls and troubleshooting each repair call before dispatching, incoming work completion calls, entering information into ATMC’s trouble management system using a personal computer, and assigning all service related orders. Level II is responsible for providing laptop/desktop/server/wireless support to ATMC customers over the phone. Regular repair work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On-call work hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. However, the Level II on-call technician provides monitoring from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM in one-week increments. When working on Saturday, the Level II Technician takes a day off during the workweek prior to that Saturday if workload permits. Schedules are subject to change.

The Communication Services Level II Technician reports to the Manager, Communications Specialists.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Receive customer requests by telephone and/or email escalations regarding DOCSIS, IPTV, VDSL & ADSL
  • Proficiency in ATMC’s Work Management system, assign work tickets to repair technicians and/or appropriate departments
  • Assist customers to further determine problems and acceptable resolutions
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize customer issues
  • Troubleshoot calls with the customer regarding technical support issues for all ATMC Broadband customers
  • Provide support for ATMC webmail/email
  • Provide support for ATMC watchTVeverywhere
  • Review, process, and close service orders from various ATMC departments
  • Pay special attention to maintain and provide the most current, accurate, and detailed plant records
  • Disabling and Enabling of the DSLAM from ASGNDSL routing
  • Capable of administering Office Tracker schedule and assignment functions
  • Update daily ticket summary email when on call
  • Set up modems for walk-in customers at other offices
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7-10, Networking Hardware, and Topologies
  • PC hardware (laptops and desktops), printers, routers, computer peripherals, Ethernet, TCP/IP, DSL, switches, remote desktop/terminal server clients
  • Support managed wireless networks
  • Diagnose bad DSLAM ports and inform Managed Services
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management

Regular repair work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM unless you are on call. On-Call hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM in one-week increments. Weekend shifts will be included with this position and will vary, and weekend work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Schedule is subject to change.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Receive customer requests by telephone and/or email regarding phone, CATV, DOCSIS, IPTV, VDSL, Broadband, and Security issues.
  • Proficiency with ATMC’s trouble management system.
  • Assign repair tickets to assigned repair technicians and/or appropriate departments using ATMC’s trouble management system.
  • Troubleshoot calls with the customer regarding technical support issues, phone, CATV, set-top boxes, and remotes.
  • Review, process, and close service orders from various ATMC departments.
  • Route service orders to the appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare service orders for the installer, which includes reviewing plant, equipment charges, address, contact numbers, correct codes, and other information (Assignment & INST routing).
  • Receive service orders at completion of work from the installer, review for correct information, and close the service order.
  • Pay special attention to maintain and provide the most current, accurate, and detailed plant assignment information.
  • Disable and enable DSLAM from assignment emails for customer service.
  • Work and process all service orders.
  • Reviews orders and determine if additional routing is needed and route to appropriate department.
  • Track box sales from CSG technicians.
  • Prepare MOPs for ATMC’s service & equipment for training purposes.
  • Monitoring work management for outages and update MOD.
  • Prepare daily repair & installation schedules.
  • Update and assign service orders with corrected plant information.
  • Proficiency with ETI, Meta / EWSD switches, XVU, CMS, ServAssure & ClearVison.
  • Proficiency with ATMC Legends CAD viewer software
  • Capability of maintaining self-schedule via Office Tracker.
  • Update daily referrals from outside plant and other departments.
  • Set up modems for walk-in customers at other offices.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.


Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
